Fred V & Grafix - Catch My Breath

Hospital Records turned 18 years old yesterday and this saw the release of their brand new, 'We are 18' compilation album, featuring 18 brand-new and exclusive tracks that have been produced and remixed by all the heads over at Hospital, the current leading drum & bass label globally.
I haven't had the time to give a listen to the whole album but i've what I have listened to has met and surpassed my expectations, including this one from Fred V & Grafix, arguably my personal Hospital favourites. These guys have been releasing tune after tune recently and are reinforcing their footprint for 2014 in the drum industry. The usual uplifting, feel-good vibes from Fred V & Grafix, with blissful vocals from Kate Westall and a touch of a retro-electronic vibe, the kind of thing you could imagine hearing in the 'Drive' movie soundtrack.

Le Youth - Dance With Me (Great Good Fine OK Remix)

L.A. Based producer Le Youth's 'Dance With Me' is exploding into the scene at the moment, following up his massive hit C.O.O.L, this is a tune you can expect to be hearing a lot of over the next coming months - hotly tipped to be a strong contender in the UK top 40. Le Youth keeps familiar with his production style, sampling from TLC's 'No Scrubs' over a catchy house beat.
Love what Great Good Fine OK do with the remix, bringing it down to a simpler, more sensual level that gives it validity as either a kick-back or dance-inspiring tune.

Stylo G - Move Back (Friction Remix)

Friction provides a new remix of Stylo G's latest single 'Move Back', forthcoming on 3 Beat.
I had the pleasure of seeing Friction the other night at the Detonate x Shogun Audio event in Nottingham, unfortunately my memory isn't perfect so I can't remember if it got dropped, but I do remember the set going off and i'm sure this tune would've gone down nicely.

Great remix, brings the original to life - it's got a carnival vibe that makes me nostalgic of the summer.

Release for the 'Move Back' single, from which this remix will be available is March 2nd, via. 3 Beat.

Jakwob - Somebody New

London-based producer and DJ Jakwob releases his first single under newly signed label Digital Soundboy.

This latest track 'Somebody New' contrasts blissful, smooth and atmospheric vocals from Tiffani Juno and an infectious, bouncy and bass-heavy hook. It looks as though the label transition is bringing out the best in Jakwob's production.

'Somebody New' is set to release in March, and if this is the standard of music that Jakwob is set to release more of i'm looking forward to hearing whats to come. Expect to hear some supporting remixes come from other members of the DSB family.

Clean Bandit - Rather Be (The Magician Remix)

I'm sure by now most people have heard Clean Bandit's latest release 'Rather Be' which is taking the industry by storm right now, insane amounts of radio play and rightfully so. I think this will be the making of Clean Bandit, the songs a contender for the number 1 spot having been released on the 17th and starts them off well for 2014.
Stephen Fasano, aka Belgian producer The Magician (most notably known for his 2011 hit remix of Lykke Li "I Follow Rivers") makes the track more club-ready, adding a thicker bassline and a bouncy hook whilst keeping Jess Glynne's outstanding vocal work in tact. Love it.

Sam Binga & Redders - LEF DEM

The followup collab from Sam Binga & Redders, LEF DEM, is HERE! If this is set to be as big as their previous tune together, AYO!, we'll be set to hear a lot more from this. Sam Binga and Redders go together like a roast and gravy - the amount of sets I heard drop 'Ayo!' since the release was insane, and it always seems to be a big crowd pleaser. I think this track has the potential to be a solid tune for 2014 - Critical reinforces it's footprint as one of D&B's leading labels.

"Lef Dem - further explorations of slow-fast danceability. Half-step beats, built from strange lumps of found sound, squashed 808 kicks and graunchy bongos. Redders over the top putting people in larders, telling them to gwan and suck banana. Equal parts ridiculous and rowdy. And then, in the middle, the graunched-up chords from some imagined, long-forgotten boogie tune... All just about hanging together, revelling in the madness." - Sam Binga

Tinashe - 2 On

Something a bit different here, Los Angeles singer Tinashe has been taking the music scene by storm and i've definitely started growing a fancy for her. This latest track '2 On' features sensual vocals, a rumbling trap beat (production by DJ Mustard), R&B ambiance, an ode to Sean Paul and a verse from Schoolboy Q. It's a lot to take in, but if these are the future commercial stars to be coming out of the USA it looks like the commercial industry has a bright future.

Route 94 - My Love (Sigma Remix)

Incredible.
On first listen you would assume this track is the original in its own right, which is the sign of a great remix.

Sigma literally have me on the edge of my seat with every new production or remix the release, quality is a certainty from these guys. See here how they completely turn Route 94's latest smash 'My Love' on its head. Deep, uplifting vibes on this one. A strong indication of what to expect in 2014 for drum and bass.

I'm unsure on the release info for this remix, but the 'My Love' original track is available from 16 Feb.

Mercer - Turn It Up (Tchami Remix)

Although I haven't featured any Tchami's tracks on here, The french producer is actually fast becoming one of my favourite upcoming house producers.

The bounce and energy in all his productions and remixes has me hooked, there's something refreshing in the sounds he's using in production that make him unique to the vast amounts of other upcoming house producers.

Check out this remix he did for Mercer's 'Turn It Up' which became available to purchase (HERE) a couple days ago.
Keep an eye on this guy and check out his past releases;

Lorde - Ribs (Ryan Hemsworth Remix)

First post of 2014, Happy new year everybody.
Slipped off the radar the past couple weeks, returning to university has swallowed my time, in this time though i've had Ryan Hemsworth's latest 'RYANPACK v1' remix mixtape on repeat, seriously addicted. The mixtape features Ryan Hemsworth's take on production for the likes of Beyonce, Disclosure, Lorde, R. Kelly and more. Love the variation in influence Hemsworth takes in the production of these tracks, from japanese chip tune to trap and gentle house melodies. Check out this remix he did of Lorde's track 'Ribs'.
